Only a few days left to reserve your place to hear former England and Derbyshire cricketer Geoff Miller, who is speaking at the club next Friday. Geoff is a very entertaining and funny speaker – you don’t need to be a cricket enthusiast to enjoy his stories - his 'dry, northern humour and wit entertains any audience, whether sporting or not'. Friday 27 September, 7.00 pm, £15.

The renowned Folk Singer and Storyteller, Pete Castle, is also appearing at Duffield the week after (October 4, 7.30 pm, £8). This promises to be fun evening with a mixture of songs and stories on a variety of themes. Pete has worked all over Britain and occasionally abroad, including the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC. He has recorded a dozen or so albums and more recently has written four books of folk tales, including Derbyshire Folk Tales.
