Crowdfunding Appeal - 28/2/2021

Dear [[firstname]],

We would like to take advantage of the Sport England Return to Play - Active Together crowdfunding initiative to help compensate for the loss of income due to the current pandemic. Our aim is to raise £10,000 which would attract the maximum grant available. If the project is approved, Sport England will match the sum raised pound for pound to a maximum of £10,000. We would need to raise at least 25% of our target for Sport England to consider approval and a response from them is usually given within a few days of the application being submitted.

Having successfully completed the installation of a new heating system, we are targeting the changing room shower areas as the next major project. The plan is to replace the existing shower area floors, which have been problematic, with a resin based material and the tiles with Bioclad hygienic wall cladding. The shower appliances will be replaced, as spare parts are no longer available for the existing units. The estimated cost for the work described is expected to be in the region of £20,000. Clearly the ideal time to undertake this work would be whilst our Club remains closed. This would not only improve facilities for existing members, it would also help attract new members.

To enable us to gauge the level of support for this proposal, we invite you to email your thoughts to clubsecretary@duffieldsquashclub.co.uk, indicating whether you would be prepared to support this initiative and if you are, provide an indication of the amount you would be prepared to donate. To give an idea of the level of support required, 200 members donating £50, or 500 members donating £20, would achieve our target.

We fully recognise that this is not the most opportune time to make this appeal against the backdrop of a pandemic which has impacted on members, not only in their use of the Club, but in so many other ways. However, the opportunity of obtaining a grant and using it to improve the Club facilities to the benefit of all members is too good to pass.

We are also aware that not everyone will be in a position to donate money. If members preferred to offer help in some other way, it may be possible to donate a service (such as time) as an alternative.

We are looking for a timely response to help us make a final decision and to give us a chance of hitting both our target sum and target date of 21st June to complete the work, when it is expected all restrictions will be lifted.
