Dear [[firstname]],
The short one – (the Espresso version)
The longer one - (the Latte version)
Tennis – the contractors are arriving on Tuesday 28th November to strip out the carpets on court 3,4 and 5. They will then deep clean and mark out the asphalt for playing. In parallel, the leaning floodlights will be straightened. This should be completed on Friday. Courts can be booked from Saturday 2nd December. After all this effort it will be great to see as many of you as possible making use of the courts again.
The removal of the old carpets (including those from courts 1,2,6 and 7, which are currently stacked on court 6) will require an artic truck which means the club and car park will be shut on 28th November – no access for anyone.
Squash – the contractors arrive on 4th December to strip off the affected plaster/cement in all 5 squash courts. They will then be tented and force dried before the rebuild can start. We have booked the contractors to start the replaster/rebuild of courts 3,4 and 5 from 4th Feb, although we will try and bring this forward dependent on how quickly the force drying works.
Clubhouse – the contractors arrive on 4th December to start the strip out of the rest of the clubhouse, including changing rooms, hallway plaster, fittings etc. It is estimated this will initially take about a week to set up, then maybe up to a month to completely dry out. During this period there will be very restricted access to the building, more details to follow.
Social – the first social event is an evening with Ray Hatfield, 15th December, tickets at the bar. Remind yourself how to take step one, step two , three steps to the bar heaven!
23 Town Street – Many of you have submitted ideas to 23townstreetduffield@gmail.com. Many thanks, this helps the team getter a much better idea of what the future of our club needs to be to be successful for decades to come. There are no bad ideas, so please keep sending them in. The ideas vary greatly in ambition including : pétanque, more parking, better gym, interactive squash, swimming pool, padel, flexible space for classes, proper coffee, sauna, better entrance, disabled access, etc etc.. The insurance money will allow us to replicate what we had or something different that fits into the same cost bracket. Many of the ideas will need us to find money to invest in the club beyond the insurance costs. We welcome this ambition and believe it is exactly the right time to consider them. We will therefore also start to consider fund raising options to meet some of these ambitions. If any member has experience of this type of fund raising, please contact us at 23townstreetduffield@gmail.com.
Kind regards,
The Recovery Team
