Duffield Squash & Tennis Club Update - 08/11/23

Dear [[firstname]],

Short version:

Tennis is planned to restart by Monday 13th Nov which will be 24 days since the courts were under 1 metre of water!

Longer version:

Insurance process

We have a meeting on site planned for Weds 22nd Nov where we will have the overall Insurance Claims manager, loss adjusters, building surveyors, and a complex building works contractor.

At this meeting we hope that the insurer will accept liability for the claim, and confirm they will be paying out. A big day!

Playing Tennis

By the end of this week we will have pressure washed courts 1, 2 & 7 and have painted lines on the tarmac.

On court 7 we are going to take the opportunity to also paint a number of pickleball courts.

There will be a more detailed email from Sal or James tomorrow with details about access, bookings, coaching, toilets etc

Squash floors

Courtmasters are half way through stripping out all 5 squash court floors.

We are still waiting for the acceptance from the insurers before we can do anything else to the walls etc

Social

The cellar has been cleaned out and the chillers are back down to temperature, lager is nearly ready to flow again. However, we need to make access to the club safe again. We are proposing to hold a visit morning for members, details to come. In the meantime, please don’t come in the club unannounced.

Project 23 Town Street

As we said in the previous bulletin, we are totally committed to seeing this awful situation as an opportunity to do whatever is necessary to make the organisations that operate at " 23 Town Street " stronger and more capable. We would be missing out on a once in a lifetime golden opportunity to consider an ambition for " 23 Town Street " to serve current members and future ones for the coming decades, which is highly unlikely to be a photocopy of what we had before the flood. We asked you to inform the thinking by putting in proposals to 23townstreetduffield@gmail.com. Many of you have put in proposals, many thanks, and we would welcome many more. We have started to map out the way we will review the ideas, how they fit into the insurance decision process and making sure we don’t delay the first phase recovery of 3 critical squash and 5 critical tennis courts.

Ashley Franklin

We have asked our resident professional photographer to capture events over the coming months.

Best regards,

Your Recovery Team
