Duffield Squash & Tennis Club Update - 07/02/24

Dear [[firstname]],

Short Version

Courtmasters are in the club and on track for three new squash courts playable by 4th March.

Three new tennis courts installed and operating ahead of schedule.

Social activity is going strong.

Longer Version

This week our squash court specialists, Courtmasters, are in the club to complete plastering on courts 4 and 5 before fitting new wooden floors to give us the best courts in Derbyshire once again.

We aim to be playing by 4th March, so we look forward to celebrating that date as our squash community return to home base.

Last week was a big step forward for tennis as our supplier Fosse took advantage of the favourable weather and installed three new carpet tennis courts in record time with a double staff team.

We were playing on the new courts by Friday afternoon, and they are ‘bedding in’ really well. Thanks to all members for coping with the car park closure which, happily, was reduced.

Fosse will now begin phase 2 next week when they build kerb surrounds on court 7, then courts 1 & 2 before carpeting later. We will not need to close the car park for the initial kerbing process.

Court availability will change as the work progresses and, of course, this is weather dependent. We aim to have six carpeted courts by early March.

Club Social activity continues to build, exemplified by last Friday’s sold-out quiz, hosted by head coach James Grindell. Congratulations to the winning teams ‘Veras‘ and ‘All Stars’ and many thanks to James and the Social Committee. Look out for more opportunities to enjoy the club in February with Six Nations rugby, Dave Semeraro’s pathology talk on the 23rd, and pool evenings starting late in the month.

Best regards,

YOUR RECOVERY TEAM
