Flood barriers
Dear [[firstname]],
On Friday night, for the first time this season, the water levels rose with resultant flooding of Belper Hockey, Tennis and Derby Rugby. Rising above the normal high point (0.9m) prompted our flood team to take action and protect the club, installing the flood gates around the club and moving significant items out of danger. The water levels rose rapidly from about 8pm finally peaking at about 1.3m at 1.30 in the morning. The team continued to monitor through the night but thankfully the levels were down to 1.1m by the morning. For reference the floods of 2023 reached 2.1m. The exercise proved very useful to further improve the flood plan.
However, after an extensive search of the club and grounds, two of the barriers have gone missing, and we are appealing to the membership in trying to locate them.
