redevelopment plans: consultation sessions

At the EGM in February, the Council were asked to work up development plans for the club house which included four squash courts and three squash courts. We can now share these plans. We originally set aside the weekend of 6th December but many members fed back that they prefer weekdays. Therefore you are invited to consultation sessions on Tuesday 9th December at 4:00pm and Wednesday 10 December at 7:00pm which replace the weekend sessions.

The sessions will start with a presentation and there will be plenty of time for discussion aided by the architects’ drawings and key information.

A briefing document will be circulated next week and the presentation will be available for all members.

The consultation sessions will follow a structured format to ensure that all attendees receive a clear overview of the redevelopment proposals, the reasoning behind them, and the opportunity to ask questions or provide feedback.

1. Welcome & Introduction
Led by Tony or another representative of the Club Council, this segment will:
• Outline the purpose of the consultation
• Set expectations for constructive conduct and respectful dialogue
• Provide a brief history of the redevelopment journey to date
• Explain the club’s objectives and the wider strategic context leading to the current proposals
• What comes after this and the council’s collective recommendation.

This introduction ensures all participants begin with a shared understanding of why redevelopment is being considered and what the consultation aims to achieve.

2. Presentation of Options
Delivered by Oliver Lowe, this section will:
• Introduce each of the redevelopment options under consideration
• Explain the rationale behind design decisions, including planning, operational, financial, and community factors
• Highlight the benefits, limitations, and implications of each proposal

The aim is to provide members with a transparent and accessible walkthrough of the proposals and how they have evolved.

3. Review of Consultation Boards & Documentation
Participants will then be invited to circulate freely around the consultation boards and supporting documentation. This segment will allow individuals to:
• Examine drawings, diagrams, and key information in detail
• Absorb information at their own pace
• Discuss aspects informally with council members, Oliver, or other representatives
• Note areas of interest, concern, or clarification

Printed materials will remain available after sessions for those who wish to revisit the information.

4. Open Q&A Session
The session will conclude with a structured question-and-answer period, offering members the opportunity to:
• Being with our predetermined questions we have all generated.
• Raise questions directly with the project team
• Seek clarification on specific proposals or impacts
• Offer early feedback or perspectives
• Contribute to collective discussion on the future direction of the redevelopment
