Duffield Rackets and Fitness Newsletter, April 2026

Club-wide matters

The padel application has been submitted and we are awaiting the local authority’s response. We also have a small team assessing whether padel would be feasible at the club and its possible impact on our existing sports.

The draft articles of association are close to being finalised, thanks to much hard work from our chair Tony King with the support of Alison Knibbs, and legal advice from Mike Taylor and Mike Copestake. We apologise that the wheels seem to be grinding so slowly in these areas.

Squash and Racketball
The Club championships are back! Starting with Racketball finals this Friday night from 5:40 and Squash finals next week. The bar will also be open and curry will be available from 8pm. Please come down and enjoy some competitive games with a drink and food. The playing schedule is pinned up in the club house; any questions please contact Finlay Stott - 07733761618.

Pickleball

Pickleball is having an open weekend on the 25 and 26 April , 10 am until 4 pm.

Come and try out this fun new game which is proving very popular at the club. Please bring your friends and family. Tea, coffee and cake will be available, and the bar will be open on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

The new summer season social and coaching sessions are also now running – see the posters on the rolling notice board or contact Brent (07885 427623) or James (07968 058383).

We now have some new, more sturdy nets, which can be wheeled back and forth – a great addition to our facility. Thanks to Pete for sourcing them and all those who came down to assemble them.

Fitness

A message from Jackson and Jen.

Thanks to those who came to the Lift Well to Live Well presentation; it was great to have you there. We were delighted to see so many faces, both familiar and new! It was clear there is an appetite for more, so expect to hear from us in the coming months, on topics such as nutrition and women's health. The slides will be available on the new club website which goes live soon.

P.S. Jackson has contacted everyone who left their details, so if you haven't received anything, check your spam folder! And failing that, contact him at jackson@coachjacko.co.uk or 07730135757 as he may have misread your details.

For further information on any of the above - contact Head Coach - James Grindell james.grindell@btinternet.com.

Good News! Penny Whiting and Julie Kelly from the pickle section have stepped in to run our social events. It’s great to have new people with new ideas volunteering at the club – good luck to them and their new team.
