A message from Jenny Smith (Knibbs) - Physiotherapist

Dear all,

What strange times lie ahead and I wanted to reassure you all that I am still open for business. As physiotherapists we pride ourselves in being an important part of the workforce to keep people functioning as well and efficiently as they can in their work, sport and leisure.

Due to government and union advice, for the time being physiotherapists are unfortunately unable to see routine patients face to face. We are, however, able to have face to face contact in emergency /acute situations and post-op patients, to reduce unnecessary contacts with GPs and in A&E. These measures are constantly being reviewed so hopefully it won't be for too long.

TELEHEALTH/ONLINE CONSULTATIONS

As we are all now virtually self-isolating I am offering Telehealth or online consultations via Skype and FaceTime. Confidentiality is of upmost importance and I can assure you that these are secure methods of communication. These sessions will include:
• In-depth subjective history into the injury or condition.
• Explain differential diagnosis and prognosis.
• Give detailed advice on what to avoid.
• Advise on self help techniques such as heat/cold therapy.
• Devise bespoke rehab exercise programmes.
BESPOKE EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION

For those unable to now go to the gym or self isolating I am offering a bespoke exercise prescription service which will utilise all your equipment at home.

ONLINE ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENT AND ADVICE

Many of you will now be working from home and setting yourself up with your laptop at the kitchen table. I can offer online ergonomic advice and assessments to help prevent postural injuries and imbalances and easy exercises to do throughout the day.

GROUP EXERCISE

Depending on demand, I may email general and racket sport focused 20 minute cardio/strength exercise routines that you can do at home. If you are interested let me know and I will tailor something to your needs.

These are going to be challenging times for us all and it is so important to keep active and keep positive. It is widely accepted that exercise is one of the best modalities for physical and mental health and if there is anything else I can do to help please do not hesitate to contact me on;

Keep positive, keep smiling and see you all soon.
