Important note to all members

Dear [[firstname]],

Squash

The fantastic news is the repairs to squash courts 3, 4 & 5 were finally completed today and those courts will be available to book from tomorrow morning at 7am. Note that court 3 will not be available until 5pm tomorrow to allow sufficient time for the red court markings to dry.

Making sure that everything was perfect before breaking the news to our members, Nigel Williams and Andy Page took to court 4 to try it out. I believe the verdict was a big thumbs up!

Please take care of the courts, they are now the newest in Derbyshire! Check your grips , as in recent times, it has been old perishing grips that have caused most of the significant black marks on the court floors. Old grips tend to shed the outer layer which then get trampled into the wooded floor. If in doubt, change your grip first.

It goes without saying that you shouldn't arrive at the club wearing your court shoes. Please change into these, preferably at the court entrance.

The booking times on court 5 have been delayed by 20 minutes to provide greater flexibility for members.

As the courts are being opened earlier than expected, there will be an open club night on Friday starting at 5pm. Just bring your kit and turn up. No need to book. Play squash or racketball then enjoy a drink in the bar.

Welcome back!

With the imminent opening of the sparkly new squash courts, please note some interim changes.

Changing rooms / toilets

From 1st March the existing Ladies changing room will be open again but will be changed to be a men’s changing room, shower and toilet. The toilet in the hallway will be for Ladies use only, both as a toilet and changing room. This is clearly a compromise and apologies to the ladies who like to shower in the club. This is an interim measure only for the time it will take to get another changing room completed.

Court access

The building still has a lot of mess and hazards. We have put carpeted walkways to avoid these hazards and avoid spreading the dirt, please stick to them. For those playing squash please take care of your beautiful new courts. We would advise that you wear non court shoes/sliders to the court entrance and change into your court shoes there.

The tennis courts have been freshly sanded and are playing very well. Please make every effort to knock the sand off your shoes before coming into the club, to minimise the cleaning and the risk of getting sand onto the squash courts.

Bar

From 4th March the bar will revert to normal opening times (6pm to 10pm)

Gym

The gym has been replastered last weekend, it is being completely redecorated at the end of this week, then finished flooring is going down early next week. We hope to have all the equipment back on site and in place and open for use by Fri 15th March.

Table tennis

A table tennis table has been set up on squash court 2. This facility will be free to all members and can be booked via the kiosk situated near the changing rooms. Further details on how to book the court will be provided once the method has been thoroughly tested, which should be within the next few days.

Car Park

Please remember that there will be car parking restrictions in place starting Monday 4 March.

Looking forward to seeing you all back playing soon
