Welcome to this week's news from your Squash and Tennis Club, and a special welcome to all new members.
SQUASH
After 8 years in the role, Dean Gregory has handed over Squash Club Captaincy to Ralph Cooper. Ralph is an enthusiastic member of the squash club and, like Dean, has captained teams at all levels, which gives him a huge advantage to take this role forward.
This change will allow Dean to take on a new role to focus on developing all squash coaching and club activities. This is an important step for the future growth of the club to help increase our membership in line with our development principles and priorities.
We would like to thank Dean for his continued hard work and wish Ralph every success in taking Duffield Team Squash forward for the foreseeable future.
305 SQUASH Open at Burton Squash Club Saturday August 10th August. Matches played 11am - 5pm

Congratulations to junior member James Stobbart for his win in the NASA squash tournament in Nottingham, and well done to everyone who took part.
Good luck to Duffield Squash born-and-bred players Matt Gregory and Millie Tomlinson in the British National Squash Championships next week.
EXERCISE CLASS
Lesley is running a fitness class at 7:20 on Mondays. Get in touch with her if you'd like to take part.
TENNIS
Court 6 is available to book for tennis as well as Pickleball (not at the same time!) It is a good way to practice for away matches on hard courts, so please don’t hesitate to book it if you would like to – the Pickleball nets are light and can easily be moved to the side if in place at the start.
Student/20-something Evening –those who came along to this first evening on Wednesday to play and socialise afterwards enjoyed themselves. If you missed it this week, do come along at 6pm next week and following Wednesdays through August and September.
COFFEE MACHINE
On Friday the long-awaited coffee machine is being installed in the downstairs area.
Drinks can be selected on the screen and paid for using the contactless pad. We are planning an introductory price of £2.00 for most drinks, £1.50 for espresso, which may rise in the autumn.
Whilst there are disposable, recyclable cups available for your drinks, we would like to encourage you to keep a cup in your bag that you can use for these drinks to avoid too much waste. Top tip from one member – put a piece of kitchen roll in a cup and pop it in your bag. After finishing your drink, replace the kitchen roll to catch the drips and take home to wash. Please ensure all disposable cups are drained and put in the bin provided so they can be recycled.
We hope this machine will be a welcome addition to our club facilities. We currently have it on a one-year trial basis. If it proves popular, we would love to make it a permanent fixture. A lot of work has gone into getting to this stage, so please try it out, drink plenty of coffee and hot chocolate and bear with us as we get used to the machine. As you will have seen, the coffee lounge/hall area is being redecorated, so we hope to have an even more pleasant environment for you to drink your coffee and watch sport on the TV very soon. As part of the redecorating, the pigeon-holes will be removed.
HOLIDAY KIDS CLUB
The holiday club has enjoyed pretty good weather so far and has been very popular. In anticipation of any rainy days, we are collecting spare sports shoes for indoor use, to protect the indoor surfaces. If you have any "grown-out-of" trainers you can donate, please leave them in the bag under the balcony. Thank you.
NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE
There are a few tickets remaining for this first event – 'Nye' – this Sunday. Contact James Grindell ASAP if you would like to come. We are trialling this format, so again, please be tolerant in the unlikely event of any technical hitches!
