Duffield Squash and Tennis Club Bulletin 15 Sept 2024

Hi [[firstname]]

Summer ends and we’re back to school and back to work with lots of activities and events at DSTC.

SHORT VERSION

Squash moves from summer to winter leagues season with a big win, new initiatives and a renewed focus on women’s participation.
Tennis has big Youth LTA programmes and a new format for club championships.
Fitness and gym classes for all have started well and membership grows.
A full social programme, with booking available for several events, takes us to year end.

SQUASH and RACKETBALL

A big win for our second team's last match of the summer season, which saw us leapfrog Burton and take the Division 2 title. Duffield 3 finished 6th, in Division 1; while Duffield 1 finished the summer season in 3rd place. The winter league starts next week with Duffield 1 and 2 going head-to-head, so why not come down and enjoy some great squash and beer in the bar.

DSTC have signed up to become a PSA Platinum Club. One of the many benefits included is a subscription to Squash TV so we’ll be showing more top squash at the club. We’ve also renewed our partnership with Derby Students Union Squash and expect to see greater club activity via this collaboration.

This week is Women's Squash Week which we are celebrating at the club this Friday. Ladies are invited to play squash, pickleball or tennis - Pizza and live music to follow from the Van Sloths. For further information contact Finlay Stott (07732 7616180).

Weekly Women's Squash and Racketball sessions have started on Wednesdays at 7.20 pm and Fridays at 9.40 am, all standards welcome, so come and have a go. For more information contact Lesley 07941312673 coaching@duffieldsquashclub.co.uk. We also have a junior coaching programme starting soon.

A warm welcome to Rhys Evans, a professional squash player currently ranked 163 in the world, who has recently joined our club.

October sees the return of the Duffield Open, organised by Millie Tomlinson – look out for further details.
